Resilient Futures: Why We Need Resilience in Our Movements

Public Workshop

December 8th - 6:00pm - 8:00pm EST

As community organizers, we are sometimes skeptical about the role of healing in our work to end oppressive systems. But without resilience woven into our movements, we cannot build collective power. To stay in the work for the long-haul without burning out, we need practices that can help both individuals and groups find resilience in the midst of organizing and not just as a destination. We can’t think of resilience just as where we are going. It’s how we get there.

This is an interactive online workshop. Be prepared to be in conversation in small groups and be as present as you can. Having a computer with strong internet connection and the ability to connect to video will ensure the best experience.

By the end of this workshop you will have:

  • Learned about the state of resilience in movements for social justice

  • Identified what needs healing in your movement work and where resilience is already happening

  • A list of resources for resilience for movements

This workshop is right for you if you are active in organizing and want to integrate resilience into your personal and movement life for the sake of your own well-being as well as the effectiveness of the work.
