Our 2026 fundraising leap is inspired by the image and power of water. Like water, strong basebuilding starts small and local; it grows like a stream grows into a river, and flows around obstacles to carve new paths to shape the world. We love how water moves with both rigor and resilience.
In summer heat, we know water is lifegiving, nourishing, and essential. We also know how important it is to nourish the essential supports that movements need to win.
Across the U.S., communities are rising up to resist data centers that threaten their local sources of water that bring them life. In these fights, we know that long-term base building is the only way to create the kind of lasting power that is needed to maintain wins and keep fighting the billionaires and corporations that won’t just disappear after a single loss. The OC is working to support communities resisting data centers to to move from mobilization to basebuilding, to build long-term people power that can have a ripple effect across the whole movement ecosystem and shape the world and our reality. Our 2026 fundraising leap will raise funds to make The OC’s role in this work possible.
