Our skill building offerings are designed to be interactive–inviting participants to share challenges and practice skills with one another. These workshops are for new and seasoned organizers actively building base, working in coalition, or exploring how to make base and coalition building part of their work. Registration is open for our 2025 offerings. Workshops will include a 1-hour orientation, 2-3 hours of self-paced work (readings, videos, activities & reflections) and a 2-hour practice session. All 2025 workshops have ASL interpretation available by request at least two weeks before that month's opening session.

BUILDING A BIGGER "WE": ORGANIZING CONVERSATIONS THAT HELP GROW OUR MOVEMENTS
Organizing is about listening to people, identifying what they care about, presenting a vision for what is possible, and moving them to action. It is also about bringing in people that don’t agree with us on everything. To build a bigger “we,” we need to identify ways to connect with people across difference and focus on where there is common ground. This workshop offers an outline and tools for having organizing conversations that move people to collective action.
MAKING ABSORPTION REAL: STRUCTURES & PRACTICES THAT BRING PEOPLE IN AND KEEP THEM
As more and more people become politicized during this moment, we yearn to bring them into our organizations so we can build power and win. But more often than not our organizations are not ready for this influx of people. This workshop teaches the fundamentals of creating leadership development structures & roles that support members to lead in our organizations and stay in our movements for the long-haul.
STRONGER TOGETHER: COALITION PRACTICES FOR NAVIGATING TENSION AND DISAGREEMENT
Coalitions bring together organizations with different interests, access to resources, and relationships to power to work on a shared campaign. These organizations are stronger together and more prone to disagreement. This workshop supports participants to dig into questions of purpose, strategy and decision-making, among others, to get clarity about why they’ve experienced disagreement in their coalition. Participants will have time to learn tools to disagree well and navigate tension in ways that are generative and instrumental in advancing our collective efforts to win big and shift conditions for our people.
POWER JENGA: CAMPAIGN STRATEGIES TO SHAKE THE SYSTEM (RECORDING)
To bring down an entrenched target -- like a CEO in their corporate castle, or a mayor surrounded by business lobby supporters -- we've got to pull down the pillars of support holding them up. As we cross the 100-day mark of the new administration, and take stock of the thousands of protests and marches, we think it’s time to evolve our strategies particularly against corporate and institutional targets (like universities) to focus on creating a crisis for key decision-makers.
